A new treatment is now being covered by OHIP for seniors with diabetic macular edema.  Lucentis is a drug that is injected into the eye and has been used previously to treat the wet form of Age-Related Macular Degeneration.  Although laser has been quite successful in treating diabetic macular edema for many years, Lucentis is now another treatment option for this potentially blinding problem.
