Service Ontario is no longer mailing out renewal notices for expiring health cards or drivers licenses.  Please check those for you and your family and go to a Service Ontario centre ASAP to update.

If your OHIP is invalid at the time of your appointment, you will have to pay for your appointment but we will happily refund you if your OHIP coverage is reinstated to cover the cost of your exam.

Upon arrival, all patients are screened for COVID-19 symptoms. As per our College guidelines, all patients must wear a mask (properly covering both nose and mouth) when in our office so please bring one with you to your appointment.

Are your eyes feeling strained working at a computer all day? Blue blocking lenses filter out some of the harsh light from your screen and may reduce eye strain, allow for better sleep after using screens in the evening, and even prevent eye diseases like macular degeneration.  Blue blocking lenses are also available in prescription!

We’ve been working hard over the last few weeks obtaining supplies such as hand sanitizer, plexiglass barriers and other recommended safety measures in place as we prepare to re-open in the near future.  Stay tuned for more details!

On the recommendation of the College of Optometrists of Ontario in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, our office will be closed until at least March 30th for both the safety of our patients and staff. We will be taking appointments for urgent cases only, such as eye injuries, infections, or visions of flashing lights or floaters. Monday August 21st is the solar eclipse!  Just remember to NOT look directly at it - the sunlight can burn the back of your eye and cause permanent damage to your vision.  Sunglasses and most other lenses cannot protect your eyes, so enjoy the cool phenomenon through pictures if you need to see the big event!

There are a lot of misconceptions about eyes and vision out there.  Here is my list of the top 10 truths that I think everyone should know:

1)  No taxes apply to eye exams or prescription eyewear.  That’s right – as long as they are prescription, there is no tax on glasses, sunglasses or contact lenses!  Items like pre-made reading glasses or non-prescription sunglasses are charged HST, though.

Did you know that automatically darkening lenses like Transitions get darker in the cold? If you haven't had them before, the weather this winter has been great to give them a try!
